Travels with Joe... Lakeside Amusement park

Here's a picture I took of my favorite roller coaster station, found at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver, Colorado.   Lakeside is one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, opened in 1908 as White City.  The park itself is a trip through time, with some classic rides and some beautiful art deco elements that are worth a visit in themselves.  The original 1908 Tower of Jewels still stands, illuminated by thousands of glittering lights.   The amusement park was redesigned in the 1930's, incorporating the art deco style and some beautiful neon signs that make a nighttime visit to this park a must.   The Cyclone roller coaster is one of my favorites, a rough-and-tumble classic built in 1940.   Enjoy a few photographs, and one day I'll do a bit more on this classic park.  As usual, you can click on the pictures for a larger view.

Here's the same roller coaster station at night...   Beautiful.

Here's the midway of the park, with the Merry Go Round in the foreground and the Coaster in the background.
Here;s a close-up of the Merry Go Round.
Yes, Lakeside has a classic Whip ride, found at this classic entrance.
The Skoota Boats uses the same pool that was built in 1908 for the Shoot the Chutes ride.
More classic neon.
This classic part entrance still stands today!

Here's a great overview of the park, courtesy of WWW.coastergallery.com.   Please click on it for a larger view.
